Why These Settings Matter
Winder settings are about balance. At 650 turns a day, the Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT Cal.9605 replaces roughly the energy it uses, keeping amplitude and accuracy where the manufacturer intended. Too few turns and it will eventually stop mid-week; that is the only real risk of an incorrect setting.
Damage from overwinding is not something owners of modern automatics need to fear. The mainspring is fitted with a slipping bridle that slides against the barrel wall at full wind, capping the tension the movement can receive. An over-generous TPD is wasteful, never harmful.
