Why These Settings Matter
Every automatic movement is designed to receive a certain amount of winding each day. Give the Grand Carrera Calibre 6RS its 650 turns and the mainspring stays in the middle of its power band, where timekeeping is most consistent. Drop well below that figure and the watch gradually runs down; the date and time then need resetting by hand.
There is no need to worry about going over the top: like all modern automatics, this movement has a slipping mainspring bridle that lets the barrel slip once it is fully wound, so extra turns cannot overwind or damage it. A higher setting simply means the winder cycles a little more often than strictly necessary.
