Why These Settings Matter

Programmed correctly, a winder mimics a day on the wrist. For this movement that means 650 turns spread across the day on a bidirectional cycle, which keeps the Heritage Visodate Automatic T019.430 ready to pick up and wear with the correct time and date showing.

And if the figure is set too high? Modern automatic calibres protect themselves: the mainspring bridle slips inside the barrel once full wind is reached, so surplus turns are simply shed. The watch cannot be overwound or damaged by a winder — a low setting that lets it stop is the only outcome worth avoiding.

Aevitas winders cover 650 to 1,850 TPD with clockwise, counter-clockwise and bidirectional modes, so the 650 TPD programme above is easy to set and easy to adjust.
